SANIBEL, Fla. – An 80-year-old Florida woman is dealing with an unexpected new neighbor.
Carolyn David, of Sanibel, recently discovered a crocodile in her backyard, and the beast has been laying eggs just feet from her home.
“It was kind of like she came up and looked the place over and this was it,” David said. “I get up early, and it was about 7 o’clock and (the crocodile) was still there, and what I thought, ‘Oh, boy.’ It freaked me out.”
David said she’s used to seeing iguanas around her home, but this is her first encounter with a crocodile.
The city has installed a camera to track the animal and is checking into the possibility of removing it.
