TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On Friday, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis declared that flags across the state will soon be flown at half-staff.

In a release, the governor’s press office explained that the move is aimed at honoring fallen officers in the Sunshine State.

“To recognize the bravery shown by these law enforcement officers and their service and sacrifice to our state, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the State of Florida,” DeSantis ordered.

These flags are scheduled to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, April 28.

It’s not the first time that DeSantis has pushed such an order this month, though.

DeSantis also called for flags to be flown at half-staff following the deadly shooting at Florida State University last week, as well as to honor Pope Francis after his death earlier this week.

Even earlier this month, DeSantis similarly directed flags be at half-staff to honor Manolo Reyes, a city commissioner in Miami who passed away at 80 years old.
