ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said they launched a program to assist emergency responders to help people with autism.
The sheriff’s office said this program will help first responders know if a person with autism could be in a home or vehicle.

Orange County residents can request a free decal at this link to help inform crews a person with autism is at the scene.

The decals can be placed near the front door of a home or in the rear window of a car to let an emergency responder know.
Deputies said this will help first responders draw on their autism training and understand there might be a person who may not speak, or respond or comply with verbal commands.
OCSO said a person with autism may wander off and may have no awareness of danger.
When a family registers at this link, their information will be placed into the dispatch system.
This will help alert deputies if they are going to a home where a person with autism lives.
