ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County deputies said they arrested a teen wanted in the killing of an Orange County mother.
Ja’Quarius McCray is facing charges of first-degree murder with a gun and attempted first-degree murder with a gun in the death of 36-year-old Roxana Sanchez.
The sheriff’s office said it worked with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to make an arrest in the case.
On May 8, investigators responded to the 10000 block of Lecon Branch Court in reference to a shooting.
Deputies found Sanchez when they responded to the scene.
Sanchez was rushed to a hospital where she later died from her injuries from the shooting.

McCray was arrested last year on allegations of opening fire during an armed robbery in Orange County. He was released from jail in March after it was determined that he was incompetent for the case to proceed, and he was placed in the custody of his mother, court documents show. Those filings show McCray was ordered to abide by a curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
News 6 spoke with the victim in the case from last year. Deputies say McCray and two other teens broke inside Kenneth Dudas’ home near Winter Park last January. During the break-in, investigators say McCray shot at Dudas who was inside.
“Soon as I was like ‘Hey, what’s going on?’ Pah pah pah. They just started shooting,” said Dudas. “It’s a shame that he [McCray] even had the opportunity and the chance to get back out there and commit such a crime.”
News 6 is still asking the Department of Juvenile Justice more about McCray’s release in that case. They said they can’t comment further because of juvenile privacy laws.
McCray’s parents said they’re asking for privacy.
Deputies are still looking for a second person involved in the murder of Sanchez.
