Parrish Medical Center prohibits most visitors to patients because of COVID-19 surge

Move announced late Saturday, goes into effect immediately

Parrish Medical Center postpones elective surgeries due to high COVID-19 hospitalizations

TITUSVILLE, Fla. – Parrish Healthcare is temporarily banning visits to patients at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, with limited exceptions, as COVID-19 cases soar in the community, according to News 6 partner Florida Today.

“Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our patients, visitors and employees,” Parrish Healthcare spokeswoman Natalie Sellers said in a statement issued late Saturday. “The continued surge in COVID-19 cases within the community and resulting surge in hospitalizations and emergency room visits has made it necessary to again adopt a no-visitor policy within Parrish Medical Center.”

Sellers said the decision “is not made lightly, but is necessary to assure a safe, healing health care environment for everyone.”

The change takes effective immediately, barring visitors from inside the hospital, except in certain situations, such as:

  • Pediatric patients under age 18 will be allowed  one designated parent/legal guardian a day.
  • Laboring and postpartum patients will be allowed visitor/partner-in-care.
  • Patients with altered mental status who require a partner-in-care for support will be allowed one visitor a day.
  • Hospice and end-of-life patients will be allowed visitors at the discretion of the health care team.

Sellers said video visitation for patients will be arranged on request.

Anyone who would like to arrange a video visit with a hospitalized loved one can contact Parrish’s patient experience team at 321-268-6357.
