Troopers said a vehicle was heading north on Pine Hills Road, approaching North Lane Road with a green traffic light.

A pedestrian was attempting to cross Pine Hills Road in a crosswalk from west to east against the red walk signal, according to the FHP’s report. The front right of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, and the vehicle fled the scene, troopers said.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where they later died, according to the FHP.

An Orange County deputy actively looking for the vehicle, described in the FHP’s report as a green 2009 Dodge Challenger, found the suspected vehicle in the Apopka area. Troopers have taken possession of the Challenger for evidence evaluation, according to the report.

The vehicle’s driver and the pedestrian have not yet been identified by troopers, according to the report.

Troopers said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
