Man hit, killed after getting out of pickup on Florida Turnpike in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 31-year-old Orlando man was killed Monday night on the Florida Turnpike in Orange County when he exited his crashed pickup truck and was struck by a car, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash happened just after 10 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike, north of State Road 417.

The FHP said the man was driving a pickup truck north on the turnpike when he crashed into the center wall. The man got out of the pickup and stepped into the northbound lanes when he was hit by the car, the FHP said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to an FHP crash report.

The driver of the car, a 39-year-old Orlando man, was not injured, the crash report stated.

The crash remains under investigation.
