Osvaldo Figueroa faces charge of sexual battery

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A 55-year-old man described by authorities as a “prolific offender” was arrested Tuesday on allegations of raping an 18-year-old woman who was delivering pizza in Kissimmee.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office said Osvaldo Figueroa attacked the woman Sunday in an elevator at an apartment complex on Lepic Lane.

Figueroa, released from prison earlier this year after serving time for trafficking in stolen property, was located in Lake County, where he was arrested on one count of sexual battery.

“All the deputies involved did a great job. (There was) no sleep until we caught this guy and got him off the streets,” Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez said.

While he was escorted to jail, Figueroa became agitated and tugged from a detective while screaming profanities.

“I didn’t do this, bro,” he said. “I didn’t rape nobody.”

Lopez said Figueroa has an extensive criminal history dating back 35 years, including convictions on drug and robbery charges.

“He’s got probably about 70, 80 arrests. Multiple convictions,” Lopez said. “This guy should have been in prison today. Not sure what’s wrong with the system, but it needs to change.”

Sheriff’s officials said Figueroa was with a woman when he was taken into custody. She was questioned by detectives, but it’s not known if she will face any charges.

Lopez said the pizza delivery driver was OK.

“She’s fine, and she’s been notified (of the arrest),” he said. “She’s grateful and happy that we found him very quickly and arrested him.”

U.S. marshals assisted the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in the case.

News 6 obtained a copy of Osvaldo Figueroa’s arrest warrant.

According to the arrest warrant, it said an 18-year-old woman was delivering pizza to an apartment just after 12:30 in the morning, Sunday.

After finishing the delivery, the report said the woman got into the elevator and that’s when Figueroa got in with her and sexually assaulted her twice.

The report said the incident lasted about 20 minutes.

When the elevator arrived on the first floor, investigators said a woman recognized Figueroa and said she knew the man as “Ozzy.”
