APOPKA, Fla. – A 26-year-old man was shot to death late Tuesday near Apopka, deputies said.
The fatal shooting was reported around 10:25 p.m. at East G.H. Washington Street and South Central Avenue in Orange County.

Family members identified the victim as 26-year-old Elishua Johnson.
“He was a good dude, man. He was just fearless,” said Joshua Johnson, the victim’s brother.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the area and found the man lying on the ground near the intersection suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Orange County Fire Rescue performed CPR, but the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to deputies.
Investigators spent hours overnight looking for evidence, but no other details have been released, including a motive or a possible suspect.
The victim’s brother said he doesn’t know why anyone would want to harm Elishua, who he said was a great father to his young daughter and loved helping others.
“Cool guy, man. He was just laid-back and liked to have fun,” Johnson said. “Something like this, it just wasn’t called for.”
Jorge Torres is sad to hear what happened. He lives in the neighborhood and said his mom’s van was also hit by the gunfire.
“It actually went straight through here to the other door. That’s where they found the bullet,” Torres said.
Johnson said this is a double dose of tragedy for his family. He said his oldest brother died by way of drowning last January.
“Just moving on, not sure what to do next because my brothers was everything to me,” Johnson said.
