There were no injuries reported and the occupant of the home was outside when crews arrived, but a dog died and a cat is now missing, authorities said.

Seminole County firefighters were dispatched to the fire at 9:52 p.m., and the fire was out by 10:34 p.m., the department said.

Crews with the Seminole County Fire Department, Orange County Fire Rescue and the Oviedo Fire Department responded to the scene, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

News 6 spoke to the homeowner who said he was heating a pot of oil on the stove and forgot to turn it off.

Seminole County firefighters returned to the home on Sunday to make sure the fire didn’t rekindle, which officials said is standard after any structure fire.

The Red Cross was called in to help the homeowner.
