Police on Thursday identified the teen as Mercutio Nicholias Burford, of Titusville.

Titusville police said Burford was found lying near the trail with life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he died a couple of hours later.

The suspected shooter ran south and is still at large, according to the police department.

Police described the shooter as a man, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, with a slim build. Investigators said he was last seen wearing a gray long-sleeved hoodie and dark shorts.

Detectives announced Friday a juvenile shooting suspect is in custody.
