15-year-old boy riding bicycle hit, killed in Orange County crash, troopers say

Boy rushed to Orlando Health where he died

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 15-year-old bicyclist from Orlando died Friday after being run over by a car in south Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 3:40 p.m. near the intersection of Town Center and Mallard Cove boulevards.

Witnesses said the car struck the boy as it made a right turn onto Town Center Boulevard, according to a news release. The 15-year-old, identified by the FHP as Dominique Smith, entered a marked crosswalk in front of the car and was run over, troopers said.

The victim was rushed to Orlando Health where he later died, troopers said.

The FHP said charges are pending against the driver.
