ORLANDO, Fla. – With record-breaking inflation, everything is more expensive right now.

Rent prices are no exception. In fact, they’re outpacing the inflation rate, and more and more families are getting priced out of their homes.

Brian Carberry with RentPath.com joined anchor Justin Warmoth on “The Weekly” to discuss what’s causing prices to spike in Central Florida.

“There’s just a lot of people in the market right now looking for a new place to live and there’s not a lot of available inventory,” Carberry said. “Occupancy rates are near an all-time high. We point to supply and demand as the main factor.”

Carberry also explained some tactics tenants could use when negotiating prices with property managers and landlords, and whether the possibility of higher mortgage rates will influence the rental market.
