An alligator in Lake County thought it was good enough to join a Central Florida school’s swim team.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook that two deputies were called to Montverde Academy because a 3-foot alligator was in its pool.

The school’s swim team was trying to hold practice but couldn’t, deputies said.

The gator was not allowed to try out for the team, but instead was removed by deputies who hooked the gator and brought it to the edge of the pool before taping its mouth shut.

Deputies said they transported the alligator to Lake Apopka, where it can continue to improve its swimming skill before another tryout.
