ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An Orange County deputy has been indicted on a charge of aggravated battery with a firearm nearly two years after a shooting in December 2020.
The indictment was handed down by a grand jury against Deputy Bruce Stolk on Thursday.
“Deputy Stolk has been relieved of all law enforcement duties and will work in an administrative capacity until this case is resolved,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

Stolk shot Edenilson Urbina in the leg following a traffic stop.
Records show Urbina was driving a motorcycle with an illegal license plate on it and when stopped, he ran behind a nearby apartment complex.
Orange County Sheriff John Mina said in December 2020 that Stolk opened fire because he believed Urbina might have been reaching for a gun; however, the body-camera video released by the sheriff’s office, seen above, does not show a gun and the affidavit filed after Urbina’s arrest makes no mention of a firearm.
The state attorney’s office ultimately dropped the charges against Urbina.

“I believe in our justice system and it’s important we let this case run its course,” said Sheriff John Mina in a statement. “Our deputies have one of the most difficult and complex jobs in the world. They must make split-second decisions and act in the moment to protect themselves and others.”
Stolk was arrested, but has been released from the Orange County jail on $3,500 bond.
The charge against Stolk is a second-degree felony and the deputy could face 15 years behind bars if convicted.
