An Orange County arrest affidavit identified the woman killed as 57-year-old Virginia Celli.

According to the affidavit, Celli was outside of her disabled SUV in the westbound lanes of Curry Ford when the box truck struck her and the vehicle. The driver of the truck, identified as 30-year-old Miguel Valero Gonzalez, was arrested and faces a charge for leaving the scene of a fatal crash.

Troopers said when they questioned Valero Gonzalez, he admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day and that he knew his license was suspended.

Celli was pronounced dead on scene.

A passenger in the SUV, a 57-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, FHP said.

Troopers said a good Samaritan followed the box truck until law enforcement arrived.

A crash report said Orange County deputies stopped the box truck near Narcoossee Road and State Road 428

“He said he was shocked that the box truck was not stopping because clearly the impact killed the woman behind the vehicle,” Lt. Kim Montes said with FHP about the witness to the crash. “He was just shocked the vehicle did not stop and he thought about what if it was somebody in his family, he would want somebody to do the right thing.”

Gonzalez is currently booked in the Orange County jail.
