77-year-old man dies after crashing into a tree near a Walgreens parking lot, Leesburg police say

No other vehicles were involved in the crash

LEESBURG, Fla. – A 77-year-man was killed after crashing into a tree near a Walgreens parking lot Tuesday afternoon in Leesburg, police said.

According to the department, the single-vehicle crash occurred around 1:49 p.m. at the Walgreens located at 901 S. 14th St.

Police said the Leesburg man drove off eastbound State Road 44 and entered the Walgreens property, colliding with the tree.

The man was then transported to a hospital and flown to a trauma center, where he later died from his injuries.

No other vehicles are believed to be involved in the wreck.

Leesburg police are currently investigating this crash.
