LEESBURG, Fla. – A 69-year-old North Carolina man was killed Friday when another driver swerved into his car and it caught fire, according to the Leesburg Police Department.

The crash occurred in the afternoon on U.S. Highway 27 at Tally Road. Police said the man, identified as Kenny Ray Amdahl, of Hubert, was driving northbound in a gold 1988 Cadillac four-door, staying in the right lane.

A 2019 Lexus — driven northbound in the left lane by Terrance Raghoonauth, 29, of Lauderdale — swerved into the right lane and struck the Cadillac in a front-to-rear manner, police said.

The Cadillac caught fire and Amdahl was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release. One person was taken to the hospital after the crash, according to a Facebook post by Leesburg Fire Rescue, but the latest release did not specify if Ragoonauth was the patient.

As police investigate the crash, anyone with further information was encouraged to contact the department’s Traffic Unit.
