Motorcyclist killed in crash with SUV in Melbourne

Motorcyclist was ejected from bike, was not wearing helmet, police say

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A crash in Melbourne killed a motorcyclist Tuesday morning.

Melbourne police said Richard Abreu, 32, was traveling west on East Hibiscus Boulevard on his motorcycle shortly before 11:10 a.m. when a Nissan SUV turned into his path from Oak Street.

Abreu was ejected from the bike and taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to investigators.

Officers said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.

The crash is still under investigation.
