Families, survivors to gather at the Six-Year Pulse Remembrance Ceremony

Survivors of the nightclub shooting will speak at the Pulse Interim Memorial on the day marking six years since the shooting

ORLANDO Fla. – Families, survivors, first responders and community members will gather to honor the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting at the Six-Year Pulse Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday.

The remembrance ceremony will be on the day that marks six years since the mass shooting at the gay nightclub, June 12, 2016. Hosted by the onePulse Foundation, it will be at the Pulse Interim Memorial from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The remembrance ceremony will have a reading of the 49 victims’ names by family members.

Two survivors of the shooting, Patience Murray and Amanda Grau, will speak on Sunday along with City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings.

Orlando poet laureate Shawn Welcome will read an original poem, “Sunday Mournings,” and singers CeCe Teneal and Ashley Rosa will perform.

The Pulse nightclub shooting is the second deadliest mass shooting in United States history.

Created by Pulse’s owner, the onePulse Foundation is a nonprofit organization that supports a memorial, a museum, educational programs and legacy scholarships. It was established to create a sanctuary of hope after the shooting that took 49 lives and injured 68 others.

OnePulse Foundation founder Barbara Poma and board chair Earl Crittenden will also speak at the remembrance ceremony.

The general public is invited to stand at the memorial or watch a live streaming on onePulse Foundation’s Facebook page.
