Police said he entered the credit union and handed the clerk a note demanding money.
According to an arrest report, the note read:
“Please Don’t call the police until I leave, Fill that money bag and there won’t be any problems, Nobody will have any problems, just give me the money The discrimination against me has been unfair and I cannot work they defamed me and I am disabled, Excuse me I do it because I need to just the money...”
The victim who was handed the note told police Gonzalez started yelling at her, saying “Don’t call the police” and that he was hungry and needed money, an arrest report shows.
Officers said the victim told them he requested $1,500 at first, and upon receiving it, demanded more money, resulting in the clerk giving Gonzalez $3,800 total.
After receiving the money, Gonzalez then ran from the business and was later located at an Exxon gas station in Melbourne Beach after officers were able to identify him based on a previous traffic infraction, an arrest report shows.
According to the report, Gonzalez told officers he was sent home from work that day with out pay, was upset and needed money, but “did not plan on hurting anyone.”
Gonzalez faces charges of robbery and grand theft.
He was taken to Brevard County Jail and is being held on $11,000 bond, police said.
