CENTRAL FLORIDA – A man who kidnapped two women in Osceola County Saturday night was killed in a shootout with deputies and police officers from multiple Florida agencies.
The man was identified Sunday as Curtis Kimbrough, 42, of Cocoa Beach, Brevard County deputies said.

According to a release by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Kimbrough shot and kidnapped a 41-year-old woman in Osceola County and had another 33-year-old woman hostage in his car, before leading deputies there on a pursuit.
The pursuit continued into the southern Brevard County, where deputies say Kimbrough fired at Indian River County Deputies. According to the release, no deputies were injured.
BCSO said the pursuit ended near Old Dixie Highway and Foley Lane in Grant, after the vehicle became disabled and the woman who was shot managed to escape and be rescued.
There, they said, Kimbrough exited the vehicle, holding a gun to the head of the 33-year-old women held hostage, and entered a wooded area. Deputies were able to locate the pair and Kimbrough began a shootout with members of the Indian River and Brevard County Sheriff’s Offices, along with the Sebastian Police Department, according to the release.
Kimbrough was shot and killed in the exchange, and no officers were injured. The law enforcement officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave following Florida Department of Law Enforcement protocol, according to the release.
The women were both taken to the hospital. The 33-year-old was since been treated and released at the time of the update Sunday, and the 41-year-old woman remained hospitalized in serious condition, deputies said.
Brevard deputies said Sunday agents were still in the process of determining if a relationship existed between Kimbrough and the kidnapping victims.
