JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 15-year-old was taken into custody Saturday morning after police said he took six people, including children, hostage in an Oceanway home.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Caleb Seth Boone, is now facing a minimum felony charge of false imprisonment.

Police said they were called about 3:30 a.m. Saturday to a home on Kaylor Lane, not far from Yellow Bluff Road and I-295, after reports of an armed subject holding hostages, according to News 6 partner WJXT.

They got an arrest warrant and search warrant, and the JSO SWAT team responded and was able to safely remove Boone and six hostages, which included both adults and children, from the home.

Police said it was not Boone’s home and they are working to determine his connection, if any, to the residence. They said he had “numerous outstanding custody orders.”

“My understanding is he has a lengthy criminal record. I can definitely tell you it’s not our first interaction with him,” said JSO Lt. Shannon Hartley.

Police are still working to learn what led up to this, but said they believe Boone was armed, which is why the SWAT team was brought in.

Neighbors did not want to speak on camera, but one said they heard someone over a loudspeaker saying, “Caleb, please come out.”

Several neighbors said off camera the home has been a site of trouble for some time. One woman even said she sees random people coming and going.

JSO said the neighborhood is secure. No injuries were reported.
