2 found dead in Melbourne home, man in custody in Georgia, police say

Bodies found inside home at 1052 Tanglewood Lane

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Two people are dead and a man is in custody in Georgia after a double homicide, according to Melbourne police.

Officers said at 10 a.m. they were asked to conduct a well-being check at 1052 Tanglewood Lane by police in Georgia. Investigators in Georgia said they had a person in custody, later identified as James C. Green, whose behavior was concerning, leading them to believe there may be someone at the Melbourne home who was in danger, according to a news release.

Police said they found two bodies in the home with evidence, indicating they were killed.

Officers said the Green is related to the two victims. Investigators believe they have accounted for everyone involved in the two deaths.

“Something bad happened,” neighbor Judita Spak told News 6. “It’s not just usual fight or usual screaming at each other.”

Spak said she lives across the street from the home, and she knew the people who lived there.

“They had some differences in the family, and they (were) fighting outside a few times,” she said.

However, Spak said she didn’t speak to them very often, and the incident Tuesday raises concerns.

“Are they dead because of health issues, or they are dead because somebody come and get them?” she asked. “And you thinking, ‘Oh, somebody comes to my house, too.’”

Police have not yet released any information on the identities of the victims.

Green is currently facing several charges, including two counts of first-degree premediated murder, grand theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Melbourne Police Department is working with the sheriff’s office to extradite Green back to Brevard County from Georgia.
