‘Walk your child to school day’ to take place in Marion County

Event is set for Oct. 5 in Ocala

MARION COUNTY, Fla – Marion County Public Schools will celebrate International Walk to School Day to educate families about the hazards and scenarios students may encounter walking to school.

“Walk Your Child to School Day” will take place near Shocker Park on 2371 SE 44 Court in Ocala at 6:30 a.m. for students and families of Maplewood Elementary School.

Children participating in the program will walk along Southeast 24th Street to the school. Local law enforcement offices, Marion County Public School staff and community volunteers will lead the groups while educating them on pedestrian safety, physical activity, and the environment.

Parents are welcome to join and walk with their children along with Maplewood teachers and local city and county dignitaries.
