OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez and Attorney General Ashley Moody visited Good Samaritan Village in Kissimmee to assess flood damage in the area caused by Hurricane Ian.
“Today, we were focused on the situation, the physical remnants of the aftermath of Hurricane Ian,” Moody said.
The sheriff and Moody visited the community Tuesday morning.
“This is the worst we’ve seen it,” Lopez said. “Last time (during Irma), it wasn’t this bad.”

The county issued a mandatory evacuation for Good Samaritan Village on Friday due to rising flood waters.
“After consulting with our experts in law enforcement, water management and fire rescue, it was clear that we take action to evacuate the Good Samaritan community. Shingle Creek is at a historically high level and it is only going to rise. Giving our first-responders the ability to get these few residents out of harm’s way was imperative,” Osceola Commission Chairman Brandon Arrington said in a release posted Friday.
The Florida National Guard rescued residents trapped in their homes by rising waters throughout Osceola County, including Good Samaritan Society, a retirement community in Kissimmee Village.
