LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A mother and two men now face charges after a 4-month-old baby died in May from an overdose of methamphetamine.

Corey Mincey, 40, was arrested Tuesday afternoon, according to deputies. The child’s mother — Jaden Colwell, 26 — was also arrested Tuesday on charges related to another deadly drug overdose, according to a news release.

Deputies said they were called to a mobile home along Dogwood Avenue near DeLand, just east of State Road 44, on May 19.

Investigators found 4-month-old Logan Bixler unresponsive. Deputies said the boy was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A toxicology report later determined the child died from an overdose, either by ingesting or inhaling meth.

Deputies said they determined Colwell had allowed two men — Mincey and Walters — to come to the home to use drugs and that they had smoked meth in the room where the baby slept.

Deputies said Colwell will face a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child for Bixler’s death. She was arrested Tuesday on charges stemming from a man’s fentanyl overdose, according to the release. Investigators said she sold the powerful drug to Craig McDuffie in July prior to his death. She faces a charge of death caused by unlawful distribution of fentanyl for that man’s death.

Mincey and Walters face charges of manslaughter.
