The victim said he saw a man running toward the front of his complex followed by the sedan driven in a reckless manner with several of the boys inside, according to an arrest report.

The arrest report shows the boys traveled through a Walmart plaza, a Sonny’s BBQ, located at 3506 S Orlando Drive, and an AutoZone, located at 3450 S Orlando Drive, in the stolen vehicle before coming to a stop behind the automotive shop in a wooded area and fleeing on foot.

The suspects bailed from the vehicle near Americana Boulevard and U.S. Highway 17-92, the department said in a release. A backpack left behind by one of the boys was found in the wooded area containing a 9mm handgun, spark plug, USB cord, iPhone, clear bag with marijuana and two screwdrivers, police said.

According to an arrest report, police were able to take the six boys into custody, one of whom was released to his parents.

Five boys are facing multiple charges, including resisting an officer without violence, trespassing on a structure or conveyance and loitering or prowling. The sixth boy is not facing any charges yet, was released into the custody of his parents and “is a suspect in connection with the open robbery investigation,” police said.
