Man arrested after 1 woman found dead, another injured in Kissimmee stabbing, sheriff says

Sheriff Marcos Lopez says attack was a result of domestic violence

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested after one woman was found dead and another injured at a Kissimmee home, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Marcos Lopez said during a briefing Tuesday that deputies arrived at a nearby home and found a woman with cuts on her hands and another woman dead on the floor with apparent stab wounds.

The injured woman told deputies that a family member was responsible for the death, and deputies found the man a few blocks away with blood on his hands, Lopez said.

He was arrested, though no information was provided on his identity.

Neighbor Miguel Cabrera told News 6 about what he saw in the aftermath of the stabbing.

“I saw my neighbor, the lady, coming out of the house, screaming like, ‘Help, help, help,’ with her hands over here, holding her stomach, her hands full of blood,” Cabrera said.

According to Lopez, the stabbing was a result of domestic violence, but deputies don’t yet know what triggered it.

“This is sad,” Lopez said. “We don’t have a history at this house for domestic violence, but it’s real. We’ve always tried to raise awareness. We really kind of hope that people come out and talk about that.”

The woman with cuts on her hands was taken to the hospital for her injuries, Lopez said during the briefing. He added that she may have received the injuries while trying to defend herself or her mother.
