Salvation Army needs volunteers for Angel Tree distribution. Here’s how you can help

Distribution day is Thursday, Dec. 15

ORLANDO, Fla. – As the big day for Angel Tree distribution nears, the Salvation Army is still in need of volunteers.

The Angel Tree program makes sure children and seniors in need will be able to open gifts on Christmas Day.

“So Saturday and the weekdays next week it is critical that we get hands to come process those bags to make sure all the toys and the clothing are right so our distribution will be very efficient,” Capt. Ken Chapman said.

News 6 partnered with the Salvation Army and raised a record $337,000 during a phone bank last month. Of that donation, $250,000 alone came from Scott and Carmen Moscrip with Light Orlando.

“We just love what the Salvation Army is doing and all the people they help,” Carmen Moscrip said. “We know for sure the money is actually going to the people.”

Distribution day for Angel Tree donations will be on Thursday, Dec. 15.

“Each year, we look forward to the Angel Tree experience as we know it brings such joy and can be a life-changing moment for thousands of children and seniors,” said Capt. Jessie Chapman, area commander for the Salvation Army.

There is an online application form that you can fill out if you’d like to volunteer and help with distributions. Click here to learn more.
