They say Valdez was a passenger in a black GMC Yukon when he threw a firework mortar out the window at the vehicle behind the one he was riding in — a Cocoa police cruiser.

A Titusville police officer stopped the Yukon and found three people in the car. Police said Valdez admitted to throwing a single firework mortar out of the vehicle, and said he was the only one who did.

The driver of the vehicle told police that Valdez was very drunk.

Valdez was taken into custody and charged with shooting or throwing a deadly missile toward a vehicle.
