SANFORD, Fla. – The Sanford Police Department released photos and a video Wednesday of suspects in its investigation of a shooting that left an 18-year-old man dead in November, asking the public for information pertaining to six suspects caught on surveillance cameras at Hatteras Sound Apartments.

Isiah Diaz was found dead Nov. 20, 2022, by officers who responded to a shooting at the apartment complex, spotting and approaching a vehicle damaged by gunfire.

Photos of that vehicle, which were included in a news release, show shattered windows and bullet holes. When officers initially responded to the shooting, Diaz was found inside of the car; two other people were in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, only one of whom had also been shot and was hospitalized, police said.

Investigators were told by witnesses that multiple people approached the vehicle and opened fire on it.

“Looking at the aftermath of this incident, it is clear that this was a cold and calculated assault on these young men’s lives,” Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said in November.

The department’s update Wednesday referred to the same rhetoric, stating the suspects recorded on surveillance cameras were seen “openly carrying firearms and moving in the same calculated manner displayed the day of the homicide.”

Police provided that footage, along with photo cutouts of the six suspects investigators wish to find.

The suspects, so far identified only by numbers ranging 1-6, appear to be men in their late teens or early 20s, police said. All six appear on surveillance footage the day of Nov. 14, with at least three of them showing up on Nov. 20, the day of the shooting.
