According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, investigators learned Welcome was in the home along Walnut Street when he stood up from a table in the living room and shot Daugherty, who was asleep on the couch.

Daugherty was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach and leg when someone returned to the home, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Deputies said one person in the home described the shooting as “cold-blooded” and that Welcome may have been under the influence of drugs.
