ORLANDO, Fla. – Loved ones of an Orlando couple are mourning their loss following a devastating earthquake that left more than 20,000 dead in Turkey and Syria.
Alex Hernandez said his friend, Alex Ilgin, had recently relocated to Florida. Following Ilgin’s wedding last year, friends said that having a baby became the Ilgin and his wife’s main focus.
“Then we received this call this week from his family that he was actually in the building, staying in the third floor,” Hernandez said. “Apparently them with their hands holding in bed, and also, his mother passed.”
Hernandez said he began working with Ilgin in the real estate industry, adding that Ilgin worked as a mortgage broker.

“I wish that he was never gone because he was again a pillar of our faith, and for me, very important, and he’s gone, so I think it’s something that is going to hurt all of us, now, today,” he said.
Hernandez said the couple’s latest trip was to receive medical treatment to increase the likelihood for Ilgin’s wife to become pregnant.
“He was planning to also buy his home this year with his new wife. He just moved to Doctor Phillips not even six months ago,” Hernandez said.
The group is planning to have a memorial service for Ilgin on March 4.
