After a 10-month investigation, the Criminal Investigations Divisions said Perdue and Reed are facing charges in connection with the shooting for first-degree murder, attempted murder and discharging a firearm on residential property.

Perdue faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Reed faces an additional charge for possession of a concealed firearm.

Police said Reed was arrested Monday night, while Perdue has been at the Lake County Jail since August 2022 in connection with robberies throughout several counties. He was released from jail in February 2022, two months prior to the deadly shooting in Tavares, after serving 10 years for unrelated charges, before being booked again, according to police.

A motive for the shooting is unavailable at this time, due to the case being sealed by the courts, according to investigators.
