Orlando International Airport gets federal grants for Terminal C projects

$69 million in grants comes from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Orlando airport looks to install above-ground ‘pitless’ moving walkways in Terminal C

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando International Airport got $69 million in federal funds to help pay for projects for Terminal C that were suspended because of budget issues.

The U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration announced Monday that it would give the airport $49 million for construction of four additional Multiple Aircraft Ramp System gates for Terminal C. The gates are capable of serving four wide-body or eight narrow-body aircraft.

The airport also got $20 million, which will fund a portion of the 450-foot, enclosed Pedestrian Connector Bridge. That bridge provides direct access between the train station and Terminal C.

Both projects were suspended during the pandemic because of budget issues.

The money is coming from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed last year by Congress, which earmarked money for grants to help modernize the nation’s airports.

Orlando International Airport is one of the busiest in the country.
