ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – With the cutting of the ribbon, the Office of Tenant Services is now open for business to provide rental assistance in Orange County.
Office hours for the new program, aimed at ensuring residents know their rights, are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Orange County officials said there will be four people dedicated to working this office that will serve both tenants and landlords. They will also be handling all code enforcements related to the Tenants Bill of Rights and the 60-day notice of rent increases.
News 6 spoke with the administrator of the new Office of Tenant Services, Amy Michaels.

She said they are the code enforcement officers and it would be their job to investigate any complaint that comes in.
Orange County Commissioner Mayra Uribe said the office will also help connect residents with different resources.
For example, she said if someone were to call and ask what apartments might have a rent of $1,500, the office would be able to connect people with the right apartment complexes.
Now that the office is up and running, commissioners will get a report in six months detailing its progress and operations.
