‘Extra manpower’ to be posted at Forest High School following threatening note

Marion deputies expected to continue investigation into threats

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – On Tuesday, Marion County deputies announced that a threatening note was found in one of the bathrooms at Forest High School.

In response to the discovery, law enforcement said the school was put into Code Yellow, which means that all school doors are locked down and regular classroom instruction continues behind the locked doors.

Deputies later said that they were unable to validate the threat, and all students at the school were safely dismissed Tuesday afternoon. However, the investigation is expected to continue, deputies said.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies at the scene used a firearms detection K-9 to try to identify the threat.

Deputies announced that “extra manpower” would be posted at the school on Wednesday to ensure the safety of students and staff.
