Vandals paint vulgar images, racial slurs on Lake Mary High School, deputies say

School district believes 4 individuals responsible for vandalism

LAKE MARY, Fla. – Vandals spray-painted vulgar images and racial slurs on Lake Mary High School, prompting an investigation, according to Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Seminole County Public Schools said officials noticed the vandalism Friday morning on the exterior of the school’s main entrance.

A spokesperson with the sheriff’s office said there was a “significant amount of black spray-painted graffiti” that included images of genitals, profanity and racial slurs.

Lucas Tinas, a senior at the high school, described the vandalism as “ridiculous.”

“It says “screw you” on the wall over there. It’s pretty bad. Yesterday, they threw baby oil on the floor. Baby oil, soap, glitter and then put glue in the locks. Super glue in the locks, so the teachers couldn’t get in. It’s ridiculous,” Tinas said.

Tinas said “it could be another senior prank.”

“They think it’s funny. It’s for attraction. They definitely get a little street cred when they do it around the school, but once their name gets around, (in) the end they screw themselves over,” he said.

The school district said an investigation shows that four people spray-painted the messages and officials are working closely with law enforcement to identify the culprits.

“I have a strong feeling it was one of the students. I’m not sure who, but I have a strong feeling it was one of the students,” Tinas said.
