2-year-old Florida boy shot, killed; father faces manslaughter charge

Fatal shooting happened at home in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 2-year-old Florida boy was shot and killed Sunday evening, leading to the arrest of his father, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Police said Armani Creary died in the shooting, which happened around 8:10 p.m. at a home in St. Petersburg.

According to police, Aaron Creary, the 22-year-old father of the child, was arrested on charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child and violation of probation.

Authorities said Aaron Creary and his son live at his parents’ home, where he got into an argument with them.

Aaron Creary pulled out a gun and it fired, striking his son, according to police.

Aaron Creary was driving Armani to a hospital, but he crashed in the parking lot of a business at the corner of 15th Avenue South and 34th Street South, police said.

Officers responded to the crash and the child was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to police.
