Altamonte Springs launches passenger service aboard autonomous vehicles

A new way to travel around the city is opening today for public use

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – The city of Altamonte Springs, along with the Florida Department of Transportation, is now welcoming passengers on CraneRIDES, a new autonomous vehicle (AV) shuttle project.

Starting Monday, residents and visitors are welcome to board at no cost and experience a new way to meander around Altamonte Springs.

In collaboration with Beep Inc., the city will launch these tailored shuttles that are programmed to travel along a fixed route through uptown Altamonte, stopping at four distinct locations across the town: the Altamonte Mall, Renaissance Center, Cranes Roost Park and AMC Theatres. There are plans to expand the system within the next 36 months to reach the AdventHealth Altamonte Campus, Altamonte Springs SunRail Station and the future home of CenterPointe.

During this beginning phase, guests will be able to experience this riding experience during these operating hours:

  • Sunday - Thursday | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. & 5 - 9 p.m.
  • Friday & Saturday | 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. & 5 - 10 p.m.
