WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Four people were arrested after a 15-year-old boy was found dead in a Polk County driveway last week in a case involving drugs and an illegal gun sale, according to sheriff’s officials.
Quashawn Burgess Jr., 15, was discovered on St. Paul Drive near Winter Haven on Sept. 12 after a witness pulled into the driveway of her friend’s home, the sheriff’s office said.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said Burgess went with Rashan Harris II, 20, of Bartow, to buy marijuana from a home in Winter Haven. While there, deputies said Harris met with Lilia Gonzalez, 30. Gonzalez, a convicted felon, had bought a gun from Harris, and Harris wanted to give her more bullets for the gun.
While the two sat in the car, Gonzalez told deputies that someone opened a car door and tried to take Gonzalez’s bag off her. A struggle ensued, and Gonzalez shot the robber one time.

Deputies said the robber turned out to be Burgess. They also said the gun Gonzalez fired was later identified as having been reported stolen in July from Lakeland.
Harris was charged with second-degree murder along with other charges, including dealing in stolen property, grand theft of a firearm and attempted armed robbery.
Gonzalez was also arrested and faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, dealing in stolen property, grand theft of a firearm and also drug possession charges.
Also arrested were Jase Govia, 23, and Pierre Sauveur, 34, who deputies say maintained the house in Winter Haven where the drugs were sold and where Burgess was found dead.
