MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man was shot and killed Thursday night near The Villages, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. in the 2500 block of SE 174th Place.

According to sheriff’s officials, the body of 55-year-old Darius Jones was found on the side of the road.
Sheriff’s officials said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
No arrests have been made.
