ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – What happens when you combine Florida Man with Olympic-like events? The inaugural Florida Man Games, of course.
“Get ready to laugh until it hurts,” the event’s website promises for the upcoming games, which are scheduled for Feb. 24 at Francis Field in St. Augustine.

“Where the events are as unexpected as the headlines that inspired them,” proclaimed the website, and “Where the athletes are...let’s just say, unconventionally talented.”
Pete Melfi, the game’s founder, said that the best way he can describe the upcoming event would be “like if you had a fever and went to bed with Florida on your mind, this would be your fever dream, minus the discomfort, plus a ton of belly laughs. It’s going to be unbelievable, and extremely memorable.”
There’s even a catalytic converter-themed race because, well, Florida.

Melfi said the idea came to him to throw a festival where people “can live out those crazy Florida Man headlines without fear of being arrested.”
For some reason, attendees can also challenge their friends to things like a mechanical gator, an “evading arrest” obstacle course and a wipeout log slammer.
The events and challenges will be judged by original American Gladiators Dan “Nitro” Clark and Lori “Ice” Fetrick, organizers said.
Oh, but that isn’t all – if it doesn’t sound crazy enough – there’s a party out back in the way of a mullet contest.
General admission tickets to the event are being sold for $45.
