ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was shot Wednesday night at a Wawa gas station in Orlando, according to the police department.
Police told News 6 that the shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. inside the Wawa store John Young Parkway at the intersection of Silver Star Road.
The Orlando Police Department said a man, identified as 45-year-old Derek T. Wilson, went up to individuals in the store “in a threatening and erratic manner.”
“The victim was acting in self defense when he shot at the suspect. Multiple witnesses on scene confirmed this,” police said in a release.

The store reopened early Thursday. Investigators focused on a car parked nearby and removed evidence from the vehicle before it was towed away.
Wilson faces charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
