ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Central Florida will hold a mid-week event ahead of Veterans Day to honor alumni who have served their country.
The event, called “Veterans Salute: Honoring and Remembering Our Alumni Veterans” will take place Wednesday from 9 - 10:30 a.m. on the school’s campus at the Veterans Commemoration Site on the Memory Mall.

According to the college, the signature veterans-month event is hosted by the UCF Community Veterans History Project and is in collaboration with UCF’s College of Arts and Humanities, Office of Military and Student Veteran Success and Air Force and Army ROTC.

There will also be more than 1,000 American flags posted on the Memory Mall, one for every military-connected student at the university. UCF said there are about 1,400 current student veterans.
Speakers at the event include Walter Napier III, Command Historian with the U.S. Army and State Rep. David Smith, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
