Christmas campaign collects hundreds of toys for Osceola County kids

5th annual Santa’s Toy Drive Car & Truck Show held at the Promenade at Sunset Walk

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – More than 1,000 toys were collected Sunday morning for needy families in Osceola County.

It was all to make sure every child has a reason to smile and has gifts under the tree this Christmas.

Santa Claus came riding into Kissimmee in style Sunday morning. He stole the show and made it a day to remember at the Promenade at Sunset Walk.

It was for the 5th annual Santa’s Toy Drive Car and Truck Show.

“The toys are all donated by our amazing drivers, all of our show drivers, spectators; we ask everybody to bring two unwrapped toys,” said organizer Ray Stines. He’s the vice president of Sunset Walk.

It’s a partnership with the Promenade at Sunset Walk and the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office to make sure every child has another reason to smile this Christmas. They collected toys on Sunday for the giveaway planned this coming Friday.

“The underprivileged kids in Osceola County (and) neighboring communities who may not have toys this year, we’ll make sure we get as many out to them as we can,” Stines said.

Randy Whiting brought out his 1987 ford ranger.

“My wife and I don’t have any kids. So we put what we can toward other people’s kids,” he said. “It’s just a big filled heart is what it’s all about. It’s all about the kids and we enjoy doing every bit of this.”
