Palm Bay woman accused of stabbing husband after he asks for divorce

BREVARD COUTNY, Fla. – A Palm Bay woman was arrested after police said she stabbed her husband after he said he wanted a divorce, according to an arrest report.

Palm Bay police said they responded to 239 Avens Road NE in reference to a stabbing on Thursday around 10:41 p.m.

According to the report, when police arrived, they found a man across the street on his hands and knees.

A witness told police that their neighbor came tot heir house after “apparently being stabbed, and collapsed at their front door.”

Police said the man had about four lacerations to his back, side and left arm.

According to the report, the man told police that he informed his wife that he wanted a divorce and a verbal altercation followed. The man said he was in a spare bedroom trying to gather belongings and stay away from his wife.

The victim said when he tried to leave the home and got to the front door, he started to feel weak and woozy. He then found blood on him and went to a neighbor’s home where he collapsed.

When police spoke to the man’s wife – identified as 45-year-old Toni Strickland – she said she grabbed a knife to “defend herself,” but claimed she never stabbed him.

Police said they located a large, butcher style knife in the kitchen that had blood on it.

Strickland was placed under arrest and faces charges of aggravated domestic battery and was taken to the Brevard County jail.
