ORLANDO, Fla. – A historic Orlando landmark is back up and spinning again.
Plaza Live’s spire was lit up over the venue Wednesday night. The venue has long been a popular spot for concerts and other events.
During a ceremony Wednesday evening, Mayor Buddy Dyer recalled when Plaza Live was a movie theater.
“There’s so much history, anybody that grew up in Central Florida probably saw some of their very first movies at the rocking chair theater. You can kick the person in front of you and knock the person out because the chair would rock,” he said.

Concerts have resumed at the Plaza Live after seven months of work to renovate the venue. The renovations are still ongoing and the total cost of the project is $10 million.
The project was funded in part by the Orange County Tourist Development Tax and will improve the “overall experience for its patrons and performers alike.”
