‘I’ve not done anything wrong:’ Police search volunteer’s home in Mount Dora missing woman investigation

Search organizer says investigators searched phone, computer

MOUNT DORA, Fla. – It’s been nearly three months since Nicole Baldwin was last seen.

The Mount Dora mom walked out of her Strathmore Circle home in November with no belongings and never returned.

Since then, there have been countless searches across Lake County to try and find her.

Days after Baldwin was reported missing, News 6 saw police searching her home for evidence. Terri Rogers, who didn’t even know Baldwin, has organized several communitywide searches for Baldwin in hopes of finding her.

Rogers told News 6 it was her home in Lake County where investigators showed up to search last Friday morning.

“As soon as I opened my door, they all just flooded in,” said Rogers. “I’ve not done anything wrong. All I’ve done was given my time, and my emotions, and my heart and soul for looking for Nicole.”

She said they searched her home and devices. “They searched my phone, computer, old laptops, desktops of my deceased husband.”

When we asked Mount Dora Police Department about the search warrant, they sent News 6 this statement: “On Friday, January 19th, the Mount Dora Police Department executed an investigative search warrant related to the continued search for missing person Nicole Baldwin. The status of the investigation is ongoing.”

“They think I withheld information,” said Rogers, who said she doesn’t know where Baldwin is or what happened to her.

Rogers said the search for Nicole is also personal for her.

“My niece disappeared going on eight months in a very similar situation out of Polk County, and her name was Tonya Whipp,” Rogers said.

Whipp, 38, was reported missing on June 29 and was last seen in the Auburndale area.

As far as the Baldwin case, News 6 reached out to the FDLE who said Mount Dora Police is the lead investigative unit.

Mount Dora PD said the case remains ongoing.
